Who is Spelementen aimed at?
Children Aged a=6-12 years old primarily in the Dutch asylum centers and expanding to children of that age range who need an avenue to talk about their mental health.
Why do children in the asylum center need support?
The policies and lack of access in Dutch AZCs make it challenging for children to have a normal childhood where learning and playing are critical. Their legal standing makes it hard for them to have any kind of normalcy in their life.
How does Spelementen help children in Dutch asylum centers
Spelementen helps children in Dutch asylum centers by providing them with a space to call their own, allowing for interaction and play, and giving them an appropriate space to share and receive their stories. The volunteers will view this as tools for therapy but the the kids will see them as toys for play.
What are the 3 spaces that have been developed for children ?
Spelementen has developed three spaces for children. The first is giving a space of privacy, called the home of thoughts. The second is Backyard Stories, which is for working in pairs, and the third is Spotlight, which is for a large group.
How many pieces are needed to make an order ?
We sell them in boxes and in each box there is enough pieces for 2 children. The minimum is one box that caters to 2 children. In this box you will have enough for each zone at a time, but not all the zones at the same time.
